Candle, Table runner, napkin rings and flower arrangement

Pink Home made Candles:
This was simple , just melted some old candles and reused them in these beautiful glass votive and added some sparkle.

Instructions:
  • Keep the candle wick ready.

  • Melt your candle in a double boiler that is keep some water for boiling in one container and then add wax or a used old candle in another container and put it on double boil.
  • If you have any of your scented oils you can add them once the wax is melted.
  • Put the wick in the glass cup. Make sure it is longer than the height of the votive glass.
  • Have the wick tied to a pencil at the middle and rest the pencil on top of the glass so that the wick stands straight. Pour the melted wax in and let it cool down a bit. Add any sparkles to it if you like.

Heart Table Runner.
Hearts on the table, I stitched this runner for Valentine.

Materials:
  • 2 meters front fabric
  • 2 meters back fabric
  • Thread as per the colour of the fabric

    Steps:
Create a heart template and a rectangle strip template with a newspaper. ( Heart template-12 inches length and 11 inch width in the middle, Strip template- 11 inches length and 4 inch width )
    • Have the front and back fabric sandwiched with right sides together and pin the templates.
    • Cut the fabric as per the template.
    • Make 4 hearts and 5 rectangle strips.
    • If you want to do any sequence, embroidery or ribbon work you can do it now by doing it only on the front fabric.
    • First hand stitch the cuttings and then machine stitch both the front and back together for the hearts and the strips keeping one side open to reverse the fabric.
    • Once this is done, snip the edges and then reverse the hearts and strips to have the right sides out
    • Join the hearts and strips alternate, you can insert the strip to the open bottom of the heart, and then stitch the corner to the heart.I will recommend to hand stitch the joins first for the whole runner and then machine stitch them.
    • You can have a bow at the two ends.
    • To make a bow, you need to cut 2 rectangles of both the front and the back together and machine stitch all the four sides
    • Snip a cut in the middle of the back fabric
    • Reverse the fabric through the hole to be right sides out.
    • Now tie a ribbon tight at the middle of the strip to create a bow and stitch it.
    • Stitch the bows on the last strips.
    Paper Napkin rings:
You can involve your kids to do this, it is pretty simple. You can do a Save As on the template image by right clicking on it and then printing it out. Trace it on your decorative paper and then cut it to shape.
